Subject: NW 386 v3.1 Upgrade Not Copying SYSTEM & PUBLIC Files
Date: October 23, 1990

PROBLEM: We have had reported problems with the NetWare 386 v3.1
upgrade pretending to copy the SYSTEM and PUBLIC files but
not actually copying them.
SOLUTION: One solution seems to be related to an incompatibility in
the machine (a Mitsubishi MP386-16). The copy takes place
in real mode, but the actual transfer of files is in
protected mode. At this point the Mitsubishi machine could
not handle a real/protected copy. The current Unisys 386
machine also has the Mitsubishi mother board.
Another solution was reported by a customer. He flagged the
SYSTEM and PUBLIC directories as Shareable Read-Write and
reinstalled the SYSTEM and PUBLIC files, which corrected the
problem.
